Five to six tons of snow and rabid snowboarders are set to transform a Grass Valley business parking lot into a winter wonderland Thursday night.

A free snowboard competition open to all riders is set for 5 p.m. Thursday in the Mountain Recreation parking lot at 491 East Main St.

Snowboarders can slide down a truck mounted slider box onto a snow run.

Practice starts at 5 p.m. with competition from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and finals beginning at 8:45 p.m. A short film is planned for 9 p.m.

Prizes will be given away as well.
