Poker Ride fundraiser a success

Nevada County’s Gold Country Trails Council is, once again, pleased to announce that the 2014 Poker Ride Fundraiser was an especially fun event this year.

We moved it up a month to avoid the heat and bees and ended up with a perfect day. The funds raised will allow for the continued improvement and maintenance of the Pioneer Trail, along with many other trails and horse camps in the Tahoe National Forest. On June 7, Skillman Horse Camp was filled with 85 riders, their horses, rigs and all the volunteers and non-riders who participated in and helped out to make the Gold Country Trails Council (GCTC) annual event another big success.

This year’s ride continues the GCTC commitment to preserve and maintain the best multi-use trail system in Nevada County for community enjoyment!

The GCTC would like to extend a huge thank you to our community businesses that supported the event with their very generous prize and food donations: Harmony Ridge Market, SPD Markets, Sierra Foothill Horsemen Assoc., Placer Farm Supply, Ridge Feed and Supply, Auburn Printers, Mountain Equestrian, Weiss Bros. Nursery, Tacky But Nice, Grass Valley Hay and Feed Supply, A to Z Supply, Grass Valley Florist, Culture Shock Yogurt, Sullivan Chiropractic, Day Break Café, RTA Enterprises, Pearson’s Feed, Caleb’s Creamery and Coffee, Ezra Marrow, B&C True Value, Bikram Yoga, For the Love of Pets, Hansen Bros. Enterprises, High Trail Custom Design, Robinson Ranch/Hoek Livestock and Vermicrop Organics.

Also, a special thanks to Renewable Energy Products, Dee Dee Vierra and staff, for not only supplying the pellet stoves but who also volunteered their time and efforts to cook up our tri-tip and chicken barbecue. Also, thank you to all the dedicated GCTC members who donated prizes and food and volunteered their time and energy to staff the Poker Ride. Thanks to everyone … we couldn’t have done it without you!
