Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies patrolling the Loma Rica Drive area were able to link a truck leaving the area to a stolen vehicle, arresting three people in connection with the theft.
The deputies were on foot patrol at about 1:30 a.m. Friday when they saw several vehicles cruising the area and going behind a complex, said Sheriff Keith Royal. They subsequently located a 4Runner with no plates in the 12000 block, according to dispatch reports.
The vehicle came back as having been stolen during a residential burglary in Sacramento on March 11, Royal said. The owner was contacted and picked the 4Runner up.
A truck had been seen leaving the area, and a be-on-the-lookout advisory was issued. Deputies driving out Greenhorn Road located the truck that had been seen earlier, and initiated a traffic stop, Royal said.
Evidence was found that tied the truck to the stolen 4Runner, including keys, Royal said.
The driver, Ian Dart Gibson, 36, reportedly dropped something on the seat of the truck, and deputies subsequently located a hypodermic syringe.
A search of the truck also reportedly uncovered a small tin with a bag of suspected heroin, a “hype kit,” and a meth pipe in the truck bed.
Gibson was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property, criminal conspiracy, possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, as well as outstanding warrants. He was being held without bail.
Lisa Jean Rose, 38, was booked into county jail on suspicion of possessing stolen property, criminal conspiracy, and possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and was being held in lieu of $11,000 bail.
Jacob Alan Karkanen, 23, was booked into county jail on suspicion of possessing stolen property, criminal conspiracy, and possessing a controlled substance, and was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
