Distrust of government

My belief concerning gun owners’ reluctance to authorize background checks is a fear that someday the government will move in and forcibly remove all guns from all citizens, whether or not they pose any threats. This is a democracy, yet the people distrust their government to such an extent that saving innocent citizens from the crazies is not incentive enough to perform background checks. Until we can trust our government, the slaughter will go on.
