A North Columbia man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly assaulting his mentally disabled brother.
Logan Scott-Kemph, 19, reportedly was babysitting his 25-year-old brother while their parents were out.
The older brother was following him around the house, trying to hit him in the face and poke him in the eye, said Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal.
Scott-Kemph grabbed a knife and waved it at his brother to get him to move back, but the brother tried to grab it, sustaining cuts on his hands and arm, Royal said.
Scott-Kemph then allegedly hit his brother several times in the back with a baseball bat.
Sheriff’s deputes responded to the residence on Skyland Drive just before 6 p.m., but the victim refused medical treatment. He eventually was taken for treatment by his parents.
Scott-Kemph was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and abuse of a dependent adult and was being held in county jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
