What has happened to “Support local business — shop local?” The transportation committee would rather pass our tax dollars to a firm in Washington state?

One that wants to help our elderly or disabled residents, but does not have a bus, let alone a fleet of them?

The county will have to purchase these vehicles, at an estimated cost of $200,000.

Also, in Nevada County double talk, “This is a long-term plan. We can’t go out and buy buses tomorrow” and yet “the transit team has begun to develop a plan to procure four vehicles.”

What should we believe?

Just to be clear — I would much rather see a Gold Country Telecare bus. A good, local firm, with ties to the community. A business that supports Nevada County and employs local residents. Let’s keep it local.
