Garrett Stanley

Garrett Lee Stanley of Nevada City passed away peacefully and among family and friends on July 6, 2012, in Ananda Village, Nevada City. He was 57.

Garrett was born March 1, 1955, to Wayne Stanley and Ardis Stanley. He attended Westmont College and received a B.A. in psychology in 1979. He served in the U.S. Naval Academy and married Sylvia Lopez in Davis on Dec. 31, 1987. Garrett was employed through Ananda Sangha and Milhous Boys Ranch and enjoyed cooking, playing the guitar and tabla, gardening and natural horsemanship.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Lopez of Nevada City; daughter, Camille Lopez of Nevada City; parents, Wayne and Ardis Stanley of Palmer, Ark.; brothers, Robert (Deborah) Stanley of Sweetwater, Texas; James (Lara) Stanley of Palmer, Ark.; and Tom of Idaho.

Memorial contributions may be sent in Garrett's name to "Team Garrett" at the Wells Fargo Grass Valley branch on Sutton Way.

Arrangements are in the care of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary in Grass Valley.
