Moms Helping Moms: Cathy’s Space
May 6, 2017
May is the month to celebrate Motherhood, and our thoughts turn to ways to show Mom how much we appreciate the care and love she showered on us throughout our lives. That's what moms do. They set aside their personal needs and wants to make sure their families are fed, clothed and educated and that they stay safe.
There's no better way to honor our moms than to give help to the young moms in our area who are in need of a little support and encouragement. So I suggest that — along with the traditional flowers, candy and Sunday brunch (you notice I did not say in lieu of) — you make a donation in Mom's name to the Nevada County Diaper Project. Your contribution of $25 will provide a two-week supply of diapers for one baby.
Holiday Market point donations to the Nevada County Diaper Project are another way to support the project. Unfortunately the point donations have decreased considerably in the last few months since other organizations have stepped up and are also asking that points be donated to their very worthy causes. This has resulted in less money to purchase diapers for our low-income families.
The Diaper Project does not receive any government funding or federal grants and depends solely on the generous support from the community.
So, keep May the time to celebrate moms by sending your donations to the Nevada County Diaper Project, P. O. Box 912, Penn Valley, CA 95946 — or let your Holiday Market clerk know you want to donate your points to enable us to continue to purchase those needed diapers that keep our babies dry and happy.
