Farewell ode to Trolley Junction

This ode I wrote is to honor and pay tribute to the loss of a treasured friend, the Trolley Junction Restaurant. On the day it closed, Feb. 28, I was unable to enjoy one parting meal and attend the final farewell to a place that has been so close to my heart. Therefore, I felt compelled to honor this special day that represents an end of a season to many of us "old-timers!" I know that I am one of many who are sorry to see this history of Nevada County leave …

"Farewell Ode to Trolley Junction"

Seasons come and seasons go, but it's sad to see you leave …

The fabric of times past, tapestries you did weave …

Memories of times of long ago,

Floods my eyes and mind and soul,

Our eating rituals here are ending, so hard to believe …

Many special occasions have graced us with memories sweet …

If these walls could speak, they'd tell of times that we'd meet …

Special times to celebrate,

Remembrances that communicate,

You've blessed us with joyful events that's made it a real treat!

You have fed our stomachs and spirits with beauty and grace …

No other eating experience will ever take your place …

The beauty of seeing a waterfall,

Enhanced our dining more than a wall,

We'll remember the smiles and warmth of each and every face …

Knowing that all good things must come to an end…

Good-byes are mixed with sadness and thanks, dear friend …

Kudos to all, a job well done,

You are our heroes, often unsung,

With tearful farewells, best wishes to all, from our hearts we extend.
