Intero real estate opens downtown Grass Valley office

A new real estate office recently opened in downtown Grass Valley that will serve the needs of the entire county.

Intero Real Estate opened its Grass Valley office at 170 E. Main St. Wednesday and offers sales and listing services throughout Nevada County and into Yuba and Placer counties.

“We’re thrilled to be in what everybody calls the new old building with 21 parking spaces a block from the heart of downtown Grass Valley,” said John Miller, who co-owns Intero with his wife, Edith Miller-Heany.

“That kind of visibility is fantastic, and we’re just tickled pink to be there.”

The company has 70 offices worldwide and utilizes technology derived from its Silicon Valley origins.

“Every time we list a property, there’s 2,000 agents aware of it through our interconnected web features,” Miller said.

“They are on the cutting edge of technology all the time, so what we do with our interbranch and intercompany website is pretty unique.”

Those who list with the company also have access to a major market in the country, Miller said.

“It’s a good thing for us and the clients and the company overall, so we’re happy to be affiliated with them.”

The couple also opened a Penn Valley office in April at 11434 Pleasant Valley Road and plans to open two other local offices in the next few years.

“We have two major locations, which serve the clientele, and we love that,” Miller said.

The company has been among the top 10 realtors in sales and volume for the last five years, according to a document by Multiple Listings Services Real Estate.

Miller was fifth in units sold and seventh in dollar volume out of more than 500 realtors, the document stated.

The couple worked for another company previously and was able to increase business more than 25 percent per year, even with the recession, he said.

“We continued to increase our business volume over 25-30 percent. While a recession was going on, we were growing,” Miller said.

“It’s attributed to hard work, good training and a good business plan.”

The couple moved to Nevada County in 1996 and has several homes in numerous places.

They primarily reside in Lake Wildwood, which has given them a breadth of knowledge about real estate in the county.

“I love it here,” said Miller, who listed the amenities, service, weather, topography and views but said he loves the area’s bodies of water most of all.

The real estate market has rebounded, Miller said, with increasing property values from the low inventory.

“Right now, we have very little supply and great demand, but there’s enough inventory that we can service those who want to move here; they would just have to a pay a little bit more,” Miller said.

Intero will host a grand opening in mid-July to introduce its offices to the community.

“The Penn Valley office and Grass Valley centralized location give us the ability to hit the ground running and not lose ground,” Miller said. “We’re excited.”
