A Grass Valley man was arrested for allegedly seeking someone to murder his neighbor, according to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office.
Ray Hugenberger, 65, was arrested for solicitation of murder after a week-long investigation conducted by the Major Crimes Unit and the Narcotics Task Force.
“We got information that he was looking for someone to murder his neighbor,” said Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Tripp. “For the last week or so, we’ve been gathering evidence … We wired an informant.”
Tripp said Hugenberger was in civil litigation with the neighbor, but he did not know the details of the lawsuit.
Deputies served a search warrant on Hugenberger’s residence in the 12000 block of Ridge Road and allegedly found more than 100 guns.
Hugenberger was booked into Nevada County Jail on suspicion of solicitation to commit murder and possessing a firearm with an altered serial number and was being held without bail.
