An Alta Sierra man is in county jail after allegedly poisoning his girlfriend with Visine. The woman, who was not identified, contacted the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday night to report her boyfriend has been poisoning her, according to dispatch reports. Shayne Curtis Carpenter, 27, had been arguing with the victim when he placed several drops of Visine in her drink, said Sgt. Dan Saunders. According to Saunders, the woman sought treatment at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, was treated and released. “It definitely will cause nausea and vomiting,” Saunders said.
