A Grass Valley man was arrested after he tried to retrieve a backpack he had dropped the day before — while being chased for allegedly shoplifting a number of items from a Glenbrook Basin grocery store. The suspect, Christopher Douglas Jenkins, 39, was described by Grass Valley Police Capt. Rex Marks as a repeat offender with more than five prior theft convictions.
