Multiple vegetation fires flared along Highway 49 near Streeter Road Thursday afternoon, according to fire officials. The fires were reported around noon at four or five different locations, all of which amounted to less than an acre, said Cal Fire Capt. Rob Bartsch from the scene. A car backfired and the sparks ignited the small spot fires that lined the road, Bartsch said.
