Teams of volunteers will be at local shopping centers in Grass Valley on Saturday with helmets in hand to raise funds for local fire safety programs on behalf of the Fire Safe Council of Nevada County. Last year, the Fire Safe Council of Nevada County implemented close to $500,000 of grant-funded programs for fire safety in the community. The majority of these funds come from federal grants that require a 20-50 percent cash match of local funds.
