Congressional candidate Doug LaMalfa, R-Richvale, backpedaled Tuesday, one day after making a controversial statement on abortion during a Tea Party-sponsored debate in Redding. Monday night, LaMalfa squared off in the debate with his first district opponent Jim Reed, D-Fall River Mills, covering a wide range of topics, including abortion.
