Grass fire blocks lane on Highway 49

A vegetation fire sparked by a blown trailer tire has closed down one lane of Highway 49 at Holcomb Drive. The grass fire was reported at 9:32 a.m. and reportedly was caused by a trailer tire blowing, according to the California Highway Patrol website. One-way traffic controls were put into effect southbound between Holcomb and Cherry Creek. The fire initially was reported at a quarter-acre and was contained by 10:30 a.m. Mop-up is continuing.
