A Grass Valley man was arrested after he allegedly broke into a store and stole cigarettes and beer, then was found passed out at the site of a second alleged break-in attempt.
Grass Valley Police officers were dispatched to an alarm call at a grocery store in the 500 block of Brighton Street at about 10:19 p.m. Tuesday, according to dispatch reports.
The suspect had stolen about 19 packs of cigarettes, a 12-pack of Corona and a music CD, said Capt. Rex Marks.
At 10:26 p.m., an alarm call was received from the Little League Snack Shack at Condon Park, which Marks noted has been a target for thefts in the past.
A man identified as Phillip Darel Palomo, 20, was found passed out against the building, Marks said.
He allegedly had the stolen beer and cigarettes in his possession. A 16-year-old boy also was detained. Palomo was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary, criminal conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
He was being held in lieu of $16,000 bail.
The juvenile was arrested on suspicion of burglary, criminal conspiracy and violating probation; he had been listed as a missing person and was booked into juvenile hall.
