January 10, 2013
Patrick Scott, a 2009 graduate of Bear River High School, dropped in four 3-pointers for the Seawolves Sunday, as they lost 89-64 to Division I Fresno State of the Mountain West Conference.
Scott contributed a team-high 34 minutes while shooting 4-of-10 from the floor with all 12 of his points coming from beyond the arc. He hauled in four rebounds, dished out three assists and swiped a pair of steals.
Sonoma State fell behind early, as the Bulldogs went on a 9-0 run to open the game and led 29-8 at midway through the first half. The Seawolves pulled themselves together offensively and responded to find themselves trailing by eight points at halftime, but Fresno State was too much to handle down the stretch as its lead only grew bigger in the second half.
Sonoma State (4-4) will return to California Collegiate Athletic Association conference play Friday when it travels to Chico State and again Saturday at CSU Stanislaus.
Josh Ritchart (Forest Lake Christian, ’10); UC Davis — Ritchart started in the Aggies’ Big West Conference opener Saturday as UC Davis fell in overtime at UC Irvine, 69-58.
Ritchart was 6-of-11 shooting from the floor for 15 points with seven boards. The Aggies led 34-30 at the half and held an eight-point lead early in the second half, but UC Irvine rallied to regain control and go ahead by six points. UC Davis battled back and went ahead by a basket late in regulation, but UC Irvine made a jump shot with three seconds to play to tie the game 58-58. UC Davis had no answer in the overtime period, failing to score as it surrendered 11 points.
UC Davis (4-8, 0-1 BWC) returns to action against Pacific Saturday to open a three-game home stand.
