Prep roundup: NU, FLC Bear River baseball all tally wins

The Bear River baseball team got a gem from Andrew Reiss on the mound and it led to an 8-1 home victory over last season's Pioneer Valley League champ, Placer.
Reiss pitched a complete game one-hitter Thursday at Bear River, leaving Hillman batters frustrated.
The senior pitcher went seven innings, allowing an unearned run while striking out six and walking one. On the day, Reiss allowed only four Hillman base runners and didn't give up a hit until the sixth inning.
On the offensive side the Bruins tallied nine hits and scored eight runs. Jake Sypnicki was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Michael Raigoza went 1-for-3 with an RBI, Reiss helped himself out with a pair of RBIs, Travis Anderson went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Tyler Toft had an RBI knock.
Ryan Anderson, Brandon Donley and Andrew Harris each added a base knock.
The Bruins (3-5, 2-1 PVL) will look to keep climbing the league ladder today when they travel to face Colfax.
Nevada Union 6, Oakmont 1
The Miners played under the bright lights of Raley Field Thursday night in Sacramento and thrived under the spotlight.
Nevada Union got a strong outing from Ryan McCarthy, pitching six innings while striking out six, and allowing just two hits and no earned runs. The win moves McCarthy to 3-0 from the mound this season.
From the plate, Dylan Conger led the way with a pair of hits, Matt Paruszkiewicz added a base knock, Cody Gardner had an RBI single, Zach White chipped in an RBI double and Noah Arriaga added a hit.
The Miners (5-2) get a few days off before traveling Monday to San Diego for the Lions Tournament at Grossmont High School.
Forest Lake Christian 6, Victory Christian 2
The Falcons improved to 2-0 in Central Valley California League play with a 6-2 win over Victory Christian Thursday at Forest Lake Christian.
Jacob Yarborough went the complete seven innings, striking out eight along the way to get the win.
From the plate, Wils Riley had a pair of hits, Kyle Soria added a triple, Kody Kennedy had an RBI double and Andy Pierson tallied a hit.
FLC (3-1, 2-0 CVCL) takes the diamond again Saturday when they play at Buckingham Charter in Vacaville.
JV: Bear River 13, Placer 5
The Bruins had little problem with the Hillmen Thursday, winning in convincing fashion.
Brett Sullivan was the winning pitcher, throwing 6 1/3 innings with four strike outs, four hits allowed and no earned runs.
From the plate Sullivan helped himself out with two RBIs, Dayton Anderson added a pair of doubles and Matt Lopez drove in two runs for the Bruins.
Nevada Union 201,
Del Oro 203
The Miners bounced back nicely after their first loss of the season, Tuesday against Granite Bay, to edge out a tight two stroke win over Sierra Foothill League foe Del Oro.
Logan Lowe led NU with a 37, Derek Frank was next with a 38, Andrew Puleo shot a 40 and Bert Heinzelman and Bradley Carrion both tallied a score of 43.
Nevada Union (7-1, 2-1 SFL) will take a break from League action Monday when they compete at the Atwater Invitational.
Placer 215, Bear River 235
The Bruins fell to 1-2 in PVL play Thursday, falling to rival Placer by 20 strokes at the Lake of the Pines Golf Course.
Daniel Gregg led all golfers with a 39 for Placer.
Bear River was led by Jake DePasse with a 41, Ian Armstrong shot a 46, Hunter McLendon and Cody Heard both finished with a score of 49, and Doug Smith rounded things out with a 50.
Bear River 8, Foothill 1
The Bruins held home court Thursday, beating Foothill by seven.
Bear River's No. 1 boy Andrew Leonard remained unbeaten this season winning in three sets, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1.
The Bruins' No. 1 girls doubles team of Lily Carrow and Sofie Cutler also kept their season record clean with a 6-0, 6-0 victory,
Lauren Kenis took her No. 1 girls match 6-0, 6-1, Cassie Smith dominated her No. 2 girls match, 6-0, 6-0 and the No. 2 doubles girls team of Kirsten Dietrich and McKyle Miller won their contest 6-0, 6-1.
The No. 1 boys doubles team of Kale Adamson and Michael Tipton won 6-3, 7-6, the No. 2 boys doubles team of Garrett Kenis and Hayden Moore battled their way to a 2-6, 6-3, 10-5 victory, and in mixed doubles action Kaity Kelley and Jon Good won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
JV: Roseville 9,
Nevada Union 3
The Lady Miners are still looking for their first Sierra Foothill League win after falling to Roseville by six.
Nevada Union had held a 3-2 advantage heading into the fourth inning, but a pair of Roseville runs in the fourth and another five in fifth put the game out of reach for the Lady Miners.
Bailey Kennedy took the loss for NU, allowing nine hits while striking out four.
From the plate, Emma Zoellin went 2-for-3 with a double, Gracie Ramos added a base knock and Emily Sasville also tallied a hit.
