Prep roundup: Falcons cruise past Victory in CVCL play, NU falls to Rocklin in polo action
October 24, 2013
The Forest Lake Christian girls volleyball team is one step closer to a Central Valley California League title and a high seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs.
The Lady Falcons (19-4, 9-0 CVCL) topped Victory Christian in straight sets, 25-7, 25-8, 25-21, Thursday and are one victory away from clinching the league title.
"Tonight was a really good showing for us," FLC head coach Travis Smith said. "It was one of those nights where everything was clicking."
On a night when every Lady Falcon tallied game minutes, senior captain Hannah Zea led the way with 12 kills and three aces. Morgan Koch tallied seven kills, seven digs and two blocks, Emily Pearce chipped in 14 assists, nine digs and four kills, and Aly English added seven kills, eight assists and nine digs. Hailey Adams also had a strong game with four kills on just five attempts.
"Everyone played, and everyone stepped up," Smith said. "Ultimately, as a coach, that's what you want. It doesn't matter who is in, as long as the play stays the same.
FLC takes the court again Tuesday when it faces Cristo Rey.
