NCVC wins silver, 2 bronze at Junior Nationals
July 10, 2013
At the USA Volleyball Junior Nationals in Reno, the boys from the Northern California Volleyball Club showed they can compete with the best the rest of the U.S. has to offer.
The NCVC 16-2 team made it to the finals against a strong High Line team and came home with a silver medal.
There are several age groups and teams in NCVC, and 16-2 refers to the age of participants (16) and the designation of the team (2). Local players on the NCVC 16-2 team are middle Steven Skaggs and outside hitter Logan Kerley.
The NCVC 16-1 team also had a strong showing, taking bronze in the same age and skill division to give the volleyballers from NorCal two of the three top spots at the national tourney. Local players on the NCVC 16-1 team are outside hitter Harrison McCormack and setter Mason Salcedo. Salcedo also earned a spot on the 16-year-old Club All-Tournament team for his efforts at the tourney.
The NCVC 15-1 team also earned a bronze medal at the tourney with help from local player Graham Champagne.
The national tourney included club teams, ages 12-18, that have earned a bid in the Open Division or were seeded in the Club Division during the fall season.
NCVC is a volleyball club based out of Rocklin that features several Nevada Union high schoolers on its roster.
