Gold Country Soccer to open comp. team tryouts
February 3, 2014
Gold Country United has announced dates for their annual competitive soccer tryouts.
Boys and girls from ages 7 to 13 years are invited to participate Feb. 15, 16, and 22. Older boys and girls ranging from 14-18 years old will be competing for positions March 22, 23, and 29. Tryouts for the younger kids will be held at Gary Clarke synthetic turf field located at the Magnolia Sports Complex and the older kids will tryout at Sierra College.
“Our competitive soccer program has been in place for many years and 2013 was one of our most successful seasons,” Vice President and Director of Coaching John Hubacz said. “Our coaches are all volunteers who are passionate about the game and the kids in this community. They work hard and give their time to help kids develop their soccer skills, nurture their talent, and build passion and love for the game.
“Our competitive soccer program is designed to give kids an opportunity to play at highly competitive levels, compete in tournaments, and prepare to play in high school and even college.”
Gold Country Youth Soccer League President David Pistone added, “We have 1,200 kids in our recreational soccer program. Many of these kids really want to play at a high level and the competitive soccer program affords them that opportunity. I have seen some of these kids and we really have some incredible talent and this program allows the development of that talent.”
The league encourages interested children and parents to attend tryouts. There is no cost to tryout and kids get to show their skills and talent.
