Gold Country gymnasts open eyes in Reno

The Gold Country Gymnastics boys team competed at the Eye Opener meet Dec.8 at High Sierra Gymnastics in Reno and returned home with several top finishes.
In Level 6, Jeffrey Wagnecht (9- to 10-year old division) shined in the competition, placing first on the parallel bars with a score of 10.4 and first on the rings with a score of 9, and finished first all around.
Chance Bacon (9- to 10-year-old division) also impressed with a first-place finish on the vault with a score of 9.6 and second on parallel bars with an 8.6 and finished second all around.
In Level 5, Brandon Pengelley (11-and-older division) took first on the vault with a score of 9.7, first on the floor with an 8.7, second on the parallel bars with a score of 10.1 and second on rings with a score of 9.8. Pengelley finished first all around.
Andrew Fairchild (11-and-older division) placed first on the pommel with a 9.4 and finished fifth all around.
Willow Dane (9- to 10-year-old division) fared well on the parallel bars with a score of 8.2.
In Level 4, Nicholas Rose (6-year-old division) finished with a 9.3 on the vault, an 8.8 on the rings and placed third all around.
John Rose (7- to 8-year-old division) placed second on the vault with a score of 9.4, finished fourth on the rings and placed fifth all-around.
Kaden Kinnear (7- to 8-year-old division) tied for fifth on the parallel bars as well as the pommel and finished sixth all around.
Alex Daniels (9- to 10-year-old division) took third on the pommel, tied for third on the rings and notched sixth all around.
The Level 4 boys from Gold Country Gymnastics placed third as a team.
