Battles for District 11

The battles for District 11 are coming to a head with several local Little League All-Stars teams making a push for the championship and the right to keep playing.

In the District 11 Junior Division All-Stars Tournament, Grass Valley is still standing, and has been fending off elimination for the past three games.

Led by a hit happy lineup and deep pitching staff the Grass Valley All-Stars can earn a berth into the championship round if they can beat Lincoln at 6 p.m. today at the Tri-City Little League fields in Rocklin.

Lincoln enters the contest on the heels of a loss to Tri-City, who remains undefeated in the tourney and currently awaits their challenger in the championship round which starts Sunday.

Grass Valley head coach Scott Wheeler said his team has made the decision that they want to win the tournament and extend their summer of baseball. If that is to happen, he will need his pitching staff to be on and his hitters to continue to rake.

"We are in this to win it," Wheeler said.
