Area Little Leagues head into TOC, All-Stars

With the last of the county's Little League regular season games wrapping up this week, it's time for area leagues to acknowledge the all-stars and start looking forward to the postseason tournaments: the Tournament of Champions and All-Star tourneys.

On Friday, the Nevada City and Grass Valley Little Leagues will announce their all-star selections at their respective Closing Day ceremonies. Bear River Little League will host an end-of-the-season picnic June 22.

Grass Valley will host its closing ceremonies at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Condon Park and will feature a bounce house and dunk tank with soaking coaches from around the league being the goal.

The Grass Valley TOC teams will be recognized, as well as the announcement of the area's all-star selections.

Nevada City will also host its Closing Day ceremonies at 5:30 p.m. Friday but at Pioneer Park in Nevada City. TOC teams will be recognized and all-star selections announced.

The TOC tourneys begin the next day with the Junior Division tourney taking place in Rocklin, the Major Division tourney is at Colfax's Living War Memorial Park Saturday and will run through the championship game, which is set for June 22, and the Minor Division tourney is at Chantry Hill Field in Newcastle.

First pitch for the Junior Division All-Star tourney is at 6 p.m. June 28 with all area games being played at Condon Park, and the Major Division All-Stars open at 5 p.m. July 1 with all area games being played at Pioneer Park.

Western Gateway will be the location for the 9-10 Minor Division All-Star tourney with the first game starting at 5 p.m. June 30. The 10-11 Minor Division All-Star tourney opens at 6 p.m. June 28 in Lincoln.
