Alumni Notebook: Sweet takes third in Knoxville

Brad Sweet, a 2004 Bear River graduate, finished third Saturday in the sprint-car C Feature at the Goodyear Knoxville Nationals in Knoxville, Tenn. Competing for Kasey Kahne Racing, Sweet also took 21st in the B Feature.
Josh Roenicke (Nevada Union ’01) Colorado Rockies – In Saturday’s 9-3 loss at San Francisco, Roenicke gave up five hits, four earned runs and two walks in two innings, striking out none.
Tuesday against the Dodgers in L.A., he pitched three innings, striking out two in three scoreless innings.
Pete Ruiz (Nevada Union ’05) Salem Red Sox – Ruiz got the ‘W’ in a 7-6 win Wednesday at Carolina. He pitched one inning and struck out two batters.
Friday at Wilmington, Ruiz gave up one hit and no runs in one inning.
Gary Daley (Nevada Union ’03) Midland Rockhounds – Daley struck out two batters and gave up a run in 2/3 innings Saturday in Tulsa, where the Rockhounds lost 8-6.
In Wednesday’s 5-4 loss at Northwest Arkansas, Daley struck out three and gave up one run during one inning.
Erik Flores (Nevada Union ’05) Web.com Tour – After rounds of 70 and 71 Thursday and Friday, respectively, Flores failed to make the cut at the Price Cutter Charity Championship in Springfield, Mo. Flores finished tied for 86th place.
