All-Stars roundup: Grass Valley Junior All-Stars blast Nevada City, roll into next round

The Grass Valley All-Stars steamrolled the Nevada City All-Stars Monday, 27-2, advancing to the next round of the District 11 Junior Division All-Stars Tournament.
Grass Valley put the game away early with a 15-run first inning and never slowed, tallying runs in every inning after on their way to eliminating Nevada City.
The All-Stars from Grass Valley (2-1) put together 24 hits on the day led by Kyle Felhaber with five hits, two of which were doubles, and four RBIs. Luke Cornish added three hits and three RBIs, Ty Trathen also drove in three runs, Cody Jianano scored three runs and drove in three, Jace Wheeler drew three walks, had an RBI and scored twice, Cole Anderson scored three times and drove in three, Sam Hopper scored four runs, and Tyler Neilson added two RBIs and scored four times.
From the mound, Anderson, Kyle Cunniberti and Trathen combined to hold Nevada City to four hits and two unearned runs.
For Nevada City Seth De Sena went 2-for-3 with a run scored, Robin Jones added a hit and Jaxon Green also had a base knock.
With the win, Grass Valley advances through the tourney and will play Wednesday against the loser of the Auburn (1-0) vs. Lincoln (1-0) game.
In other Junior All-Stars action, the Penn Valley All-Stars (1-0), who beat Nevada City Saturday, will take on Tri-City (1-0) at 7:30 p.m. tonight in a matchup of unbeatens in the tourney.
Bear River (1-1) will try and stave off elimination when they face Rocklin (0-1) at 5 p.m. today.

The All-Stars from Sierra Foothill Little League (Colfax) have been on a tear, handily beating All-Stars teams from Penn Valley, Nevada City and Grass Valley to earn a spot in the District 11 (Area 2) championship game.
Sierra Foothill (3-0) will face Foresthill in the finals at 6:30 p.m. today at Pioneer Park.
Foresthill (2-1) beat Grass Valley (1-2) in the semifinal round Monday to reach the championship, and must beat Sierra Foothill twice to claim the title.
Sierra Foothill has been impressive at the plate and in the field throughout the tourney, beating its opponents by a combined score of, 46-11.
The All-Stars from Nevada City were eliminated from the tourney Sunday after falling to Foresthill, 7-3. Nevada City (0-2) also lost to Sierra Foothill, 13-5, Saturday.
Penn Valley (0-2) was ousted on Saturday after dropping games to Sierra Foothill on Friday and Foresthill on Saturday.
In District 11( Area 1) action Bear River beat Tri-City 10-2 last Thursday and took on Lincoln Monday.
In the District 11 (10/11 year-old division) tourney, the Nevada City All-Stars earned an impressive win over the weekend, beating Mid-Placer, 19-5.
The win has Nevada City (1-0) in the winners bracket and it will face Lincoln (1-0) at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Lincoln beat Rocklin (0-1) Saturday, 4-1.
The Grass Valley All-Stars dropped their opening round game to Auburn, and will play Sierra Foothill in an elimination game at 5 p.m. today.
