The Nevada County Adult Sports Association held its winter league's championship for co-ed volleyball Sunday at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Grass Valley with ABC Sharpening winning the best-of -three match against Fun Time in three exciting sets, 21-13, 16-21 and 21-10.

"It's a lot of fun," said team captain and owner of ABC Sharpening Daniel Frazer. "The more teams we get out here the better. Everyone gets along and we swap players sometimes just so we can have games. We're just having fun hanging out."

As undefeated champs of the winter league, ABC Sharpening received a trophy and a twenty-five dollar gift certificate to enjoy at Goomba's Italian Family Restaurant in Grass Valley.

Of course, playing in this league you earn a lot more, according to NCASA owner Rich Ramirez.

"It's all about being involved with the community," said Ramirez. "I want to open leagues during sports seasons in school for non-active kids. You make your own teams."

It's truly a place where everyone can participate.

"There's so many kids not doing anything so we're trying to open things up," added Ramirez. "Any kid can participate in adult league with parental consent."

The NCASA has leagues for co-ed volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball and men's flag football at high school and junior high levels.
