Memorial Park in Grass Valley will once again be the scene for the community to come together in sport and support of a local cause.
On Sunday, Les Eva Field at Memorial Park will host The Brodie Rose Bomar Softball Tournament Benefit with all proceeds going to Brodie Rose Bomar and her parents, Blaine Bomar and Jennifer Rose, for any adjusted living expenses that will allow them to stay together as a family while Brodie is going through medical procedures at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto.
Brodie Rose Bomar is 4 months old and has been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy and is in desperate need of a heart transplant. She is currently on medication to stabilize her until a healthy heart becomes available.
The tournament is a co-ed name-draw tourney, and the cost to participate is $25 per player. Teammate requests will be honored. To register, contact Jentrie Adams at 530-205-5414 or Katie Johnson at 530-320-4315. Participants will be notified by Thursday with playing time and team information. The tourney will follow Western Nevada County Slo-pitch Softball Association rules and regulations.
There will also be a barbecue, raffle and silent auction during the tourney. The raffle includes gift certificates from local businesses, including Nevada City Bike Shop, Tropical Tans, Nails International and more. The silent auction includes gift certificates from W. Pierce Photography, Magikal Florist, Shear Elegance Salon, a basket of animal goodies from Scraps, a basket from Grass Valley Florist and more.
