Lowe having strong summer

After a strong high school golf season with Nevada Union and finishing the school year with at 4.1 GPA, Logan Lowe started the summer being one of 48 juniors from across the country selected to attend The First Tee Training Camp at Hank Haney International Golf Junior Academy in Hilton Head, S.C.

The criteria for the invitation were based on application, handicap, golf accomplishments, essay and chapter participation.

Lowe proudly represented the local chapter; The First Tee of Greater Sacramento.

On June 18, Lowe played in a qualifier tournament at Plumas Lake Golf Course for a place in the Optimist Championship.  Lowe shot a 71 to earn a place in the tournament at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.  This is the second time Lowe has qualified for the Optimist and both times has given his place to the alternate due to scheduling conflicts.

On June 24, Lowe played The First Tee of Greater Sacramento tournament at Peach Tree Country Club, where he shot a 74 to win overall by 3 stokes.

On June 28, Lowe and Kacey Tyler, USGTF Alta Sierra Country Club director of Tournaments and Instruction, played in The First Tee of Greater Sacramento’s 22nd annual Sacramento Jr./Sr. Championship.

They played as a two-man team where they won the boys 14-18 division low gross with a score of 63. All proceeds of this tournament support The First Tee of Greater Sacramento’s Youth Life Skills program.

On Monday, Lowe played in a qualifier tournament at Stanford University for a place in the US Junior Amateur. Lowe played well with some help from his caddy, a former Nevada Union high school graduate, Gavin Butcher. Lowe is currently a second alternate for the Boys US Junior Amateur.
