Run for the Community next stop in Grand Prix

The Run for the Community is upon us, marking the third stop on the Gold Country Grand Prix.

Now in its seventh year of existence, the Run for the Community is one of the Gold Country Grand Prix’s most popular races. There is a 5K and 10K race, a 5K walk and a free children’s run (10 years and younger), all starting and ending at Twin Cities Church in Grass Valley.

The run begins and ends on pavement, but the middle section runs through SunSmile Farms, a local organic farm that features cherry and peach orchards, flowers and many other fruits and veggies.

No dogs are allowed on course. Strollers are allowed on 5K Walk course only and at the walker’s own risk.

There will be several awards given, including a trophy for top overall male and female runners in the 5K and 10K runs. There are also medals for the first three finishers in each age division for the 5K and 10K runs. For the kids fun run, there will be medals for all participants.

The run features a free pancake breakfast cooked by the men’s ministry, a live band, excellent post-race refreshments, quality tech t-shirts and excellent custom medals.

Proceeds will benefit TCC community ministries to the needy such as local schools, at-risk students, the elderly and the local jail.

The entry fee is $25, except for the kids run, which is free. Runners and walkers can register for free online at Use the events link.

For information, call Twin Cities Church at 530-273-6425, ext. 400, or email or visit
