Bump, set, championship

No. 2 seed Scared Hitless defeated No.1 seed ABC Sharpening in straight sets, 21-10, 21-19, to win the Nevada County Adult Sports Association’s four-on-four spring league co-ed volleyball championship Sunday at Veteran’s Memorial Building.

Scared Hitless knocked off the Ridge Runners in three sets in the semi-finals earlier Sunday. ABC Sharpening advanced to the finals after B eating LOP in two sets.

Overcoming the odds, Scared Hitless won both of its matches, the semi-finals and the finals, with only three players.

“Everyone played really well today,” said Scared Hitless player Leila Nagel. “It was a really good fight to the finish.”

Winners received championship t-shirts and a trophy.

6-on-6

No.1 seed ABC Sharpening overcame a one-set deficit to defeat No. 2 seed Fun Time, 17-21, 21-8, 21-14, for the Nevada County Adult Sports Association’s six-on-six spring league co-ed volleyball championship Sunday at Veteran’s Memorial Building.

Earlier on Sunday, the Fun Time squad rolled past LOP in two straight sets while ABC Sharpening did the same as it advanced over Assembly Required in the semi-finals.

“Fun Time played a great game,” said Daniel Frazer, team captain of ABC Sharpening. “We just picked our energy back up. We’d love to see more people come out and have fun.”

Winners received championship t-shirts and a trophy.
