Alex Bernadett, a 2008 Nevada Union graduate, recently showed his support for those affected by the Boston Marathon bombing by riding his bicycle 58 miles from New Orleans to Gonzalez, La, along the Mississippi Levee trail, then running 26.2 miles after that.
Bernadett made the trek along with four others in an attempt to raise funds for the One Fund Boston, Inc., which was recently set up to help people most affected by the tragic events that occurred April 15.
“I wanted to organize something to pay tribute to the victims,” Bernadett said. “The Boston Marathon has had a big influence on my life, my dad ran it seven times, and I’ve run five marathon’s in New Orleans.”
Bernadett was originally born in Boston, but grew up in Nevada County, he said.
If inspired by Bernadett’s show of solidarity or would like to simply donate to the One Fund Boston, Inc. visit onefundboston.org. The one fund has already raised $26,371,864, of which 8,729,864 have come from public donations and $17,642,000 coming from corporate donations.
