In youth basketball action, the Bootcamp Rapids edged the Ironworks Bulldogs, 33-29, in the 11-13-year-old division of the KidsFitness24/7 spring basketball league.
The Rapids took over in the second half with Nathaniel Welch leading the way, scoring nine points, dishing out two assists and grabbing five rebounds. Dane Suess also had a stellar second half, finishing with seven points, seven rebounds and five steals in the Rapids’ win. Aiden Schnieder and Beck Jacobson played solid defense to help the Rapids to their second win of the season.
KidsFitness247 All Stars 37, IHOP Grizzlies 25
In a game that was much closer than the score would indicate, it All Stars topped the Grizzlies by 12.
The All Stars were led by Aiden Keros with 14 points, six rebounds, and four steals.
The Grizzlies battled closely with the All Stars all game, getting strong performances from Damien Christian with seven points and 10 rebounds. Molly Wingerd was effective with seven rebounds, two points and two steals.
Trevor Gold was fantastic in the second half, getting to the hoop at will and finishing the day with 14 points to go with five rebounds and five steals.
8-10 year olds
Sunset Travel Kings 27, Beach Hut Deli Sparkles 2
Despite the game being one-sided, the Sparkles never let up, showing great determination even though they trailed by a large margin.
Faith Tannenbaum scored the two points for the Sparkles and also grabbed eight rebounds and notched a block. Scout Pettit had a strong defensive game and finished with five boards and a steal.
The Kings had to fight for every point, scoring just 10 in the first half, but their defense kept the Sparkles at bay.
Ben Glorfield led the Kings with nine points, seven steals and four rebounds, Eli Barbieri added eight points, and Kaelin Matthews impressed with eight steals.
