Prep roundup: Migliozzi places 4th at Arcadia Invitational

Nevada Union distance runner Garrett Migliozzi notched another personal record this season, running the mile in a time of four minutes and 18.64 seconds at the Arcadia Track and Field Invitational.

Migliozzi finished second in his heat and fourth overall. Kyle Bueckert, of Maranatha, was the fastest at 4:17.10, Steve Correa, of San Pedro, was second with a time of 4:17.59, and finishing third was Daniel De La Torre, of La Salle, with a time of 4:18.63.

The Arcadia is an annual event that routinely boasts the best the nation has to offer with 152 Olympic champions and 24 national records being notched at the event throughout the years.


Forest Lake Christian 25, Sacramento Waldorf 4

The Forest Lake Christian Falcons baseball team clobbered Sacramento Waldorf with an overwhelming offensive display for a 25-4 victory Monday in Fair Oaks.

The Falcons were led by Jacob Yarborough who batted a perfect 6-for-6 at the plate, which was highlighted by a three-run homer. Yarborough also finished the game with six RBIs. Not to be outdone, Hunter Phillips was also impressive at the dish finishing 5-for-5 with a pair of RBIs. Joey Pearson finished 3-for-3, Wils Riley went 2-for-4 and starting pitcher Kyle Soria even got in on the fun going 1-for-2 with two RBIs as there was just no stopping the Falcons. Soria and Mikey Rubio both pitched for Forest Lake Christian and allowed no runs. Pearson and Phillips also made appearances on the mound in the abbreviated five-inning game.

“The team did a good job,” said head coach Jess Soria. “A little rusty from spring break, but found rhythm pretty quick.”

The Falcons (7-2) play at 4 p.m. Thursday at Foresthill.


Bruins place 4th

at Diamond Oaks

The Bear River boys golf team finished in fourth place out of six teams in a Pioneer Valley League tournament on a windy Monday afternoon at Diamond Oaks Golf Course in Roseville.

The Bruins finished the 18-hole par 72 course with a combined team score of 493, beating out Center (511) and Foothill (571). Lincoln won the tournament posting a team round of 434, edging Colfax (435) and Placer (436). Medalist honors went to Placer’s Daniel Gregg who shot the low score, 74 (+2). Bear River was led by Jake DePass who posted a round of 91, followed closely by Dillon Smith who concluded with a 92. Ian Armstrong, Cody Heard and Connor McLendon contributed respective scores of 101, 102 and 107.

Bear River (3-2 PVL) hosts Lincoln in a dual match at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Lake of the Pines.
