The Nevada Union girls junior varsity team closed the 2012-13 season Monday night on a high note, throttling Sierra Foothill League foe Roseville, 62-35.
On a night on which every Lady Miner scored in front of the home crowd, NU was led by Callie Kraus with 17 points and five rebounds.
Grace Paye tallied a double-double in the win with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Dynamic freshman Ella Walton added seven points and three rebounds, and fellow freshman Madison Lee grabbed her season-high in rebounds with 10 to go with four points.
Mikaela Hawkins added five points and two steals in the win, and Amanda Visger pitched in four points and grabbed four rebounds.
The Lady Miners finish the season with an SFL record of 7-3 and with an overall record of 15-9.
Freshmen: Nevada Union 81, Roseville 47
The Miners reached 20 wins and blew out SFL rival Roseville by 34 Monday night to close out the 2012-13 season.
NU’s David Menary led the Miner charge with 21 points, and Chance Brown added 18 in the win.
“As a whole, this group is a bunch of basketball junkies,” NU coach Guy Greever said. “They play all the time and will keep getting better. I can see them boosting up the program in the coming years and hopefully earning a home playoff game in the future.”
The Miners finish the 2012-13 season with an SFL record of 5-5 and an overall record of 20-7.
