Gymnastics: Gold Country gymnasts showcase talents in Oakland


The Gold Country Gymnastics boys team took its talents to the Oakland for the Gold Country Classic Sunday and came home with several top-three finishes.

In Level 6, Jeffery Wagnecht placed second in the floor exercise with a score of 8.6 and second on the rings with an 8.7 and closed with an all-around 45.3. Also in Level 6, Nathan Arthur scored an 8.7 on the pommel horse and an 8.5 in the floor exercise and finished with an all-around 50.2.

In Level 7, Rhett Miller was third on the pommel horse with a score of 9.7, tied for third on the bars with a 9.3, and earned fourth with a 9.5 in the floor exercise. Miller closed the classic with an all-around 58.1.

In Level 8, Joshua Cooley vaulted his way to a third-place tie in the event with a score of 11. He also scored a 10.1 in the floor exercise and closed with an all-around 50.6.

In Level 9, Nathan Hunt scored an 11.9 in the floor exercise and an 11.7 on the vault and ended the day with an all-around 51.1. Aiden Arthur tallied an 11.1 on the parallel bars and a 9.8 in the floor exercise and closed the day with an all-around 50.5.

In Level 4, Chance Bacon scored an 8.8 on the vault, earning him fourth place in the event, and he also scored a 9.4 on the rings and finished with an all-around 51.1.
