8 Miners move to divisionals

The Nevada Union wrestling team showed its depth and strength Saturday at the Sierra Foothill League championships, qualifying eight wrestlers and two alternates for the divisional tournament.

The Miners also had junior varsity grappler Caleb Patterson make the final match and take second place in his weight class.

The varsity team brought 11 wrestlers to the SFL championships with Jonny Callas taking first place in his weight class. Sawyer Mosel, Will Sumner and Nate Story each took second place in their respective weight classes. Kashe McHugh, T.J. Hart and Chris Boles tallied third-place finishes, and Tyler Schwartz and Earl English placed fifth, earning alternate spots for the divisional tournament.

The top four placers in the league tournament continue on to the divisional tournament Saturday at Vintage High School in Napa.
