Cole Stanford, a 2009 Nevada Union graduate exploded for 90 yards on five carries, including one that went for 65 yards. He also snagged two catches for 54 yards and a touchdown in San Luis Obispo’s 35-17 win over North Dakota.

Steele Jantz (Nevada Union ’08); Iowa State – Jantz completed 10 of 20 passes for 73 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions, and also ran the ball 19 times for 14 yards in a 24-13 loss versus the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The Cyclones are now 3-1 overall and 0-1 in Big 12 play.
Josh Cena (Nevada Union ’11); Lewis and Clark College — Cena had three punt returns for a combined 50 yards, along with one tackle on defense in Lewis and Clark’s 55-42 victory over Puget Sound. The Pioneers are now 4-0.
Dan Pettinato (Nevada Union ’10); University of Arizona — Pettinato wrapped up two tackles Saturday as the Arizona Wildcats were stunned at home by the Oregon State Beavers 38-35. The Wildcats are 3-2 on the season, 0-2 in Pac-12 play.
Devyn Grimes, Jacob Arnold, Jason Hebert; Cabrillo College –– Local NU alums playing for the Cabrillo College Seahawks posted 28-13 victory over Mendocino on 9/22/12. Grimes (RB) scored on a 10-yard pass while Arnold (DE) had a tackle for loss and 1/2 sack for the defense. Hebert (WR) also saw action as the Seahawks win their first game of the season.
Josh Roenicke (Nevada Union ’01); Colorado Rockies — In two appearances out of the Rockies’ bullpen last week Roenicke faced three batters through one inning, allowed one hit and one earned runs.
In Friday’s 8-0 loss to the Dodgers, Roenicke allowed no hits, no runs and recorded a strikeout. In Saturday’s 3-0 loss to the Dodgers, Roenicke threw two pitches and allowed a homerun to slugger Matt Kemp.
Erik Flores (Nevada Union, ’05); Web.com Tour — Flores missed the cut at the Chiquita Classic in Weddington, North Carolina by one shot after shooting rounds of -3 (69) and par (72). Flores has now missed 11 cuts in 21 attempts this season.
Spencer Biersdorff (Nevada Union, ’08); University of Colorado, Colorado Springs — Biersdorff shot rounds of 67, 73 and 72 to finish tied for 12th out of 56 in the individual standings and 7th out of 10 in team standings at the Oredigger Invite RMAC #2 in Denver, Colorado.
Madison Heppe (Nevada Union ’12); Swarthmore College — Heppe started both road matches versus Frank & Marsh and Johns Hopkins, but Swarthmore lost both by counts of 3-1 and 3-0.
The squad is now 2-2 in conference play. Heppe recorded 14 digs in the losses.
