The Nevada Union girls water polo team finished eighth out of 54 squads Saturday at the Sierra Shootout at Sierra College. On Friday, the Lady Miners, seeded No. 3 in their bracket, opened the tourney with a 7-2 win over No. 2 seed Oakridge behind two goals each from Nicole Blaney, Sydnee Chambers and Robyn Fernandez. Nevada Union moved to 2-0 in the tourney after beating top-seeded McClatchy 8-3 in the second game.
