What if you could play 18 holes of golf but only had to count your best nine for your final score?
Nevada County Country Club let their members do just that at a recent tournament, and paid winners for both low gross and low net scores.
Taking the low gross honors were Ted Schoppe (first flight) with a 31, Bob Alvares (second flight) with a 35, John Murray (third flight) with a 43, and Carolyn Michelsen (ladies flight) with a 41.
In the Men’s first flight, Dan Triano claimed the top net prize with a score of 26, followed by Ben Blackmon (28.5), Peter Carland and Mark Ryan (29) and Rob Barker and Ron Gaynor with net 30s.
Bob Flecksteiner won the second flight with a net 24.5. Second place went to Dave Carter (26), followed by Mike Railey with 26.5 and Jim Meshwert and Bill Fisher with net 27s.
George Dever won the Men’s third flight with a net 28.5, followed by Harlan Williams (29), Paul Rankin (30), Bob DeMers and Bill Thompson (30.5). Maggie Flecksteiner took the top spot for the ladies flight with a net 28.5. Jane Parson and Bonnie Marvelli came next with 29.5s, followed by Donna Roach with a net 32.
