The Gold Country Gymnastics Silver and Platinum girls teams headed south for the USAIGC West Coast Championships in Orange County May 31, and came home with several individual firsts and a third-place finish as a team.
In the Platinum Level (all ages) Lilly Pruett was crowned state champion after finishing first all-around with a 35.875. Pruett impressed with a 9.125 on the vault, a 9.35 on the floor exercise and a 9.275 on the bars.
In the Silver Level (16+) Peyton White became a state champion with a 35.15 all-around score. White excelled on the vault and floor exercise, placing second in each event.
Bethany Sumner took fifth all-around in the Silver Level (16+), and was third on the floor exercise.
In the Silver Level (14-15) Natalia Vinces made it three state champions for Gold Country Gymnastics with a first-place all-around score of 34.775. Vinces was first on the bar with an 8.6 and took second on the vault.
In the same level Sara McCormick took second all-around with a 34.575. McCormick took second place in both the floor exercise and beam events.
In the Silver Level (13 year olds) Alexa Arbaugh was third all-around (35.825), but became a state champion in the beam with a 9.375. In the same level Makayla Whittington finished sixth on the vault.
As for the Silver Level (11 year olds) Kylie Lamb took fifth all-around (35.75) for Gold Country Gymnastics, placing third on the bars and the beam.
And rounding things out for the Gold Country Gymnasts was Alissa Vandra in the Silver Level (9-10 year olds), placing fourth all around, second on the floor exercise and third on the bars.
