Celebrate World Tennis Day at Club Sierra

A World Tennis Day free event is being held March 29 from 9 a.m. - noon at Club Sierra Sports & Fitness to get parents, kids and everyone excited about playing tennis.

Throughout the month of March, tennis organizers across the country will be hosting thousands of kids and families in local World Tennis Day play events, introducing a whole new generation to this sport for a lifetime.

The local event will feature free clinics with Club Sierra’s teaching pros, round robin matches for novice and experienced players, and a raffle of new tennis racquets donated by long-time Club Sierra teaching pro Greg Cicatelli. Proceeds from the raffle will support NEO (New Events and Opportunities), a local nonprofit empowering youth to make healthy lifestyle choices. Gifts for kids also will be provided from the United States Tennis Association.

“It’s important for kids and adults to participate in more physical activities,” said Cicatelli. “Club Sierra is providing a terrific opportunity with this celebration of tennis, free of charge to the community.”

Club Sierra teaching pro Cheryl Rubin is organizing the event.

“Playing tennis is great exercise, fun and a game for the entire family,” Rubin said. “Benefits go beyond the court. Tennis teaches life lessons and core values such as sportsmanship and teamwork.”

To sign up for World Tennis Day, contact Rubin, 530-210-9913 or fill out a form at Club Sierra and turn it into the front desk: 130 West Berryhill Drive, Grass Valley, 530-477-8800. Please sign up no later than one week prior to the March 29 event or call Rubin regarding space availability.
