Thomas Bolin passed away March 15, 2014, at home. He was 72.
A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19, in the Northern Mines Building at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, followed by a barbecue with a potluck of side dishes and desserts.
Tom was born March 3, 1942, in Bradford, Penn., to Art and Edna Mae Bolin. At a young age, he moved with his family to Colton, Calif., where he attended grade, high and trade school.
After school and on weekends, he worked at a dairy with his dad. He married his first wife and had three children. Eventually, Tom moved to Grass Valley where he met and married Kathy.
He worked as a Millwright or for The Nevada County Fairgrounds while operating a small cattle ranch until he retired in 2007.
As an outdoorsman, Tom enjoyed maintaining the ranch, hunting, fishing, camping and exploring historical sites, particularly in the Gold Country.
He was a humble man who was always available to lend a hand to others. He touched more lives than he ever could have known. He will be missed.
Tom leaves behind his wife, Kathy; sister Cheryl Robbins; sons Jim and Brian; daughter Melinda Bolin-Lowe; grandsons A.J., Grant, Ben and Jason; granddaughters Becky and Kelsey; and great-granddaughter Audrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard.
Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of the Foothills.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
