Richard "Micky" Ernest Conway passed away at Sutter Medical and Trauma Center in Roseville on July 21, 2013. He was 85.
In accordance with his wishes, no service will be held.
Richard was born Sept. 15, 1927, to Lewis and Stella (Krzyzaniak) Conway in Pendleton, N.Y. When he was 16, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was a carpenters mate third class.
He fought in World War II and was honorably discharged in July 1946.
He worked hard and performed many jobs during his life, from farming to running his own upholstery shop in Grass Valley for 20 years.
He is survived by his son Michael of Erie, Penn.; daughter, Kathy of Puyallup, Wash; sister Dolly Errington of Buffalo, N.Y.; grandchildren Forrest McKay, Bruce Conway, Brian Conway, Amanda Gibbs, Melissa Tammaro, Angela McKay, Jessica McKay and Ryan Conway; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was widowed by his longtime love and companion, Patricia Bentley.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities, and he loved dredging for gold.
He was a member of The American Legion and the NRA.
He lived independently and was loved by his family and friends.
We would like to thank the staff at Sutter Medical and Trauma Center and Richard's close friends and neighbors, the Granholms and Lanes, who were like family to him, for all of their love and support over the years.
