Obituary of Debra Lynn Petersen Cantrell

Debra Lynn Petersen Cantrell was called home to Heaven on March 20, 2016. She was 51.

Debbie was born on April 9, 1964 in Sacramento, Calif. to Chris and Linda Petersen of Elverta, Calif. She grew up in Elverta, where she attended Rio Linda High School, graduating in 1982.

Debbie spent more than 30 years in Reno, where she established deep roots and lifelong friendships. In 2014, Debbie reconnected with former classmate Keith Cantrell, whom she wed on Feb. 28, 2015. In December, she relocated to Nevada City to start a new life with her new husband and stepson Jordan Cantrell. Debbie was excited about making their new house and the Grass Valley-Nevada City community her home. She enjoyed her new job at Western Sierra Medical Clinic and her coworkers there.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband and best friend Keith; stepson Jordan Cantrell; stepsons, Nicholas, Brandon, and Tyler Cantrell; brother-in-law Kevin Cantrell; loving brother and friend Chris Petersen, sister-in-law Cheryl Petersen, and nephews, Luke and Kyle Petersen, all of Fort Worth, Texas; loving "Auntie," Jeri Mendricks of Oregon; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father Chris Petersen of Elverta; grandparents, Goldie and Russell Wright and Grace and Alvin Petersen; and uncle Tom Wright of Washington. God called home Debbie's mom, Linda Petersen of Rocklin, two short weeks after Debbie, and Debbie's beloved cat Decker followed shortly after.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
