Obituary of Brooke Light
August 27, 2014
Brooke Light left her body and went into the Light of God on August 13, 2014. She was in her home, surrounded by her dear friends and spiritual community, who had gathered for 11 days and nights in vigil, singing and praying to assist her in letting go with grace and ease.
Brooke was born as Norma Lynn Donaldson, to Clyde and Elizabeth Donaldson in Pierre, South Dakota, on February 1, 1947. Her family later moved to Hopkins, Minn. where she graduated high school with honors and then excelled at Stanford University. In 1968, she married Steven Hadland, a Stanford medical student, and lived in Palo Alto, followed by a year together in England.
In the mid-1970s, Brooke and Steve parted amicably, remaining dear life-long friends, and she initiated a journey of spiritual knowledge, consciousness and healing that continued throughout her life. While working as the head administrator at the Institute for Transpersonal Psychology, an exciting new school blending human psychology with spirituality, she met Courtney Graham, a successful entrepreneur, pilot and fellow spiritual explorer. They married in Maui, where they lived for five years and traveled the world, meeting many well-known spiritual teachers and healers, and sponsoring some to share their gifts in the States.
Brooke began a new chapter of her life in the early 2000's, when she and Court were guided to the Grass Valley area. Here their paths diverged and Brooke met her spiritual teacher and the community of Heaven on Earth Ministries (HOEM).
From then on, Brooke walked a deep, focused path of self-realization, service and opening hearts to Divine Love, Light and Truth. Loving and serving came naturally to Brooke and kept expanding, along with her joy, gratitude and awakening consciousness, as she lived and served with her spiritual community in Nevada City, Calif..
Several years ago, Brooke changed her last name to Light, reflecting the inner Light growing within her being. She radiated that Light to everyone she met and as a natural networker, she loved bringing people she knew together.
Brooke is survived by her brother & sister-in-law, Doug & Pat Donaldson of Albany, Calif. and by her nephew, Eric Donaldson and his family of Berkeley, Calif. She leaves a precious group of loving friends at HOEM, who cared for her so loyally and graciously through her final weeks.
A celebration of life memorial service for Brooke will be at 2 p.m. on Sept. 13 at Unity Church in Grass Valley, Calif. We feel that Brooke, who so loved and supported her community, will be dancing with delight to feel all her beloved family and friends from near and far joining in this celebration. We come together to honor this beautiful soul who contributed greatly in a radiant life of loving care and service. Brooke was a blessing to us all.
Charitable donations may be made in her name to Heaven on Earth Ministries or to any worthy breast cancer organization.
