Larry Allen Modlin passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2014, with his loving family and John Wayne by his side.
Services will be at 11 a.m. April 16 at Chapel of the Angels. Reception to follow at Grass Valley Courtyard Suites.
Larry was born Aug. 31, 1941, in Parsons, Kan. He was a kind and caring man who would be the first to help someone in need.
He was a retired Navy Vietnam veteran of 30 years. After retiring, he moved his family to Grass Valley in 1988.
Larry worked at Milhous Boys Ranch and Burrows Security.
Larry loved camping, fishing, hunting and working with his hands. He loved and was loved by his family and friends. He loved sharing stories with his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Connie Modlin; sister Glenita Uriarte; sister-in-law Monica Modlin; children, John (Vicki) Modlin, Tracy Prosser, Christine (Douglas)Barker, Curtis (Angel) Modlin, Bridgett (Jeff) Cline; grandchildren Jeremy, Corianne, Jason, Matthew, LaTisha, Bobby, Jessica, Jakub, Colton, Amber, Katie, Kimmie, Kristal, Kurtis, Ricky, Nicholas and Zachary; and great-grandchildren Emily, Karly, Kadence, JR., Coral, Cauldron, Braden, Jackson and Brayden.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Modlin; mother Bernita Modlin; brother Robert Modlin and his Aunt Dee.
Arrangements are under the care of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
