A service will be at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Hooper & Weaver Mortuary, 459 Hollow Way, Nevada City, CA 95959, (530) 265-2429.
Judy was born on Aug. 31, 1938, in Kewanee, Ill., to Harold and Helen Grow. She attended Middleton Street School, Gage Avenue Junior High School and Huntington Park High School in Southern California. In 1958, Judy married Phil Gameros and together they had four wonderful children — Margaret, Steven, Cathie and Cheryl. In 1971, Judy remarried a handsome Englishman, Gerald Rogers, who added two lovely daughters to the family — Julie and Anne. Judy and Gerald had 12 grandchildren — Nicole, Amanda, Jourdan, Ryan, Noah, Mikal, Alexander, Maxwell, Morgan, Presley, Paris and Reagan. Judy and Gerald were happily married for 43 years.
Judy had many hobbies and interests, such as knitting, Mahjong, bridge and Bunko, and she belonged to several clubs. Judy loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking and camping with her family. She especially loved traveling with Gerry in their motor home and reading the maps and directing the routes.
Judy volunteered at Hospice for many years, providing comfort to patients during their last days. Judy's big heart extended to other local charities; anywhere she was needed was where she wanted to be. Judy was inspirational in her cancer group, helping others learn how to "play the hand they were dealt."
Through the years, Gerald and Judy had so much fun riding motorcycles, listening to country music and square dancing. Gerald was a devoted and loving husband and model father. Judy will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
